We share a vision for our community, which we believe God has given, of a Church which reaches out to people where they are, offering them the love and wholeness that the Lord offers to us all.
We commit ourselves to playing our part in realising this vision by moving forward together - in worship and prayer; - in seeking God's will for our churches and our community; - and in serving our community and caring for its people.
We value the strengths of our respective traditions, and recognise the importance of retaining what is special about each. But we also acknowledge Jesus' call to us as Christians to be one family, united in mission seeking to make the Kingdom of God more real here in Drumchapel.
We affirm our shared faith as being of greater significance than any differences which may exist between us. We commit ourselves to using those things we have in common, and to using our differences, positively, to better serve the Lord in our community. In so doing, we are eager to learn from each other. We enthusiastically look forward to a closer integration of our people and our resources.
We see this partnership as a platform for growth, allowing the Holy Spirit to lead us as we look for ways of fulfilling the Lord's vision for our church and community, and hope to do so by being open to others, to different ideas, and to new perspectives.
Therefore: We seek to express Christian life and faith through our lives - by our words, action and witness - in a sensitive, gentle and respectful way with those who live, work in or visit Drumchapel, and be a representative Christian voice to civic and other bodies.
We seek to work in partnership with others to enhance the quality of life and the well-being of individuals and the community.
We seek to end misunderstanding, prejudice and sectarianism by building up trust, tackling exclusion and confronting unjust discrimination of all kinds throughout the community.
We are eager to share this journey with other churches and Christian organisations, who can commit themselves to this Covenant.
May God who has called us to this commitment, grant us the grace to fulfil it. |
